if you are using cloudflare, there are option to optimize it.
I'm using LiteSpeed addon too. My hosting use it.
For example this is my score, using cloudflare. (note that voluntary I have images thumbnails in my home page):

Nothing to download with cloudflare, just register (free) or pay depending from your needed.

And depending what your hosting is using, you can install some addons that can help, as litespeed

But is not a matter of difference, cloudflare give you some services, basically a little bit of security and speed/cache.
