Updating xenforo

How do I update my xenforo? I followed the docs but the "Merge" thing is not understand able I don't know if I overwrite the file or not because I might lose my old data.

So how can I update it without losing any data, please help!

PinuccioI am using FileZilla, I get several options when I upload files, like: Overwrite, Overwrite if source is new so so which option is best for safety?

audacityAfter u made the backup of both your database and files then u can overwrite.
