BattleKingIt looks like you have only 1.1.3 installed, this is not for XF 2.2.x, you need to update to 1.1.4

[XD] FTSLider - Featured Thread Slider​

Define the sections which should enable featured threads

set the permissions, depends on the user role, like that:

Go into a thread

On the right top corner you will see Feature, if clicked

You can expand and add additional information

Now you will see that this thread is featured

Go to the the page where the slider has been enabled and displayed

On the featured thread link it looks like that

But anyway both addons works, but the better one would be the one where I took right now the instruction.

this would be cool if members could disable the entire widget if they didnt like it

If you have knowledge about programming, you can change it.
Alternatively, you can create an additional group that does not have "display" rights.
